1 driver killed, another hurt in Dallas crash involving suspected drunken driver

One motorist was killed early Friday in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 35E at Mockingbird Lane, according to an official with the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office.

The name of the driver who died has not been released by authorities.

The second driver was critically injured in the wreck and taken to a local hospital, but that motorist has been arrested and faces a charge of intoxication manslaughter.

Deputies with the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office have not identified the suspect.

The fatal crash occurred just after 3 a.m. Friday in the southbound lanes of I-35E near Mockingbird Lane.

When they arrived, deputies found two vehicles involved in a wreck, a Nissan Xterra and a Ford F-250.

The driver of the Xterra was taken to a local hospital, where the motorist died.

The driver of the F-250, who suffered critical injuries in the crash, also was taken to a local hospital. That driver was arrested.

Deputies did not release any other details on the crash.

The southbound lanes of I-35E were closed until 5:41 a.m. Friday as authorities investigated.
