1 dead after Friday afternoon shooting in central Lubbock

One person has died after a shooting Friday afternoon in a central Lubbock neighborhood.

Officers responded about 4:02 p.m. a report of a shooting, with one person wounded, in the 1500 block of 23rd Street, according to Lubbock police.

One person with serious injuries was taken to University Medical Center, where they were later pronounced dead. The identity of the victim and other information about the shooting were not immediately available as the investigation is ongoing.
