One person was killed and another injured early Tuesday when their vehicle plunged over an overpass on Interstate 35 West in Fort Worth, officials say.

Officers responded to a major accident at I-35 and Texas 121 around 12:45 a.m. Police said they believe the driver of a vehicle lost control, and the vehicle hit a concrete barrier and fell over the overpass.

The passenger died at the scene of the crash, officials said. The driver’s injuries weren’t life-threatening, and he was taken to a local hospital in stable condition.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the woman who died as Cynthia Lynn Green, 53.

All lanes of traffic on I-35 at State Highway 121 reopened after the northbound and eastbound lanes were closed for several hours, police said. The Traffic Investigation Unit will investigate the fatal accident.
