The trend report: Two is better than one
Diane Kruger wore Roland Mouret separates at a screening of 'The Bridge'.
Keri Russell paired a Monique Lhuillier crop top with a midi skirt in the same fabric for the  'Dawn of the Planet of the Apes' premiere in San Francisco.
Kate Beckinsale went for easy, breezy separates for a Wimbledon outing (sitting next to Orlando Bloom, no less).
Lucy Hale chose a funky-printed Tanya Taylor look for the Pretty Little Liars 100th episode celebration.
Olivia Munn chose a Peter Pilotto jacquard vest and shorts combo for a hot day promoting a film in NYC.
Ahh, the look that started it all. Rose Byrne stunned in this Calvin Klein creation at the 2013 Emmy Awards.

Last week, we extolled the virtues of the long-sleeved top, but today, we really tell you what you should wear one with -- a matching separate, of course. In our humble opinion, we predicted the rise of the two piece as soon as we saw Rose Byrne walk down the 2013 Emmys red carpet in a blush pink Calvin Klein creation that revealed just a hint of midriff.

According to the rest of the celebs storming the red carpet this summer along with the 2015 resort collections, it's safe to say our theory has been confirmed. Matching separates are having a moment, and they sure aren't your mom's '80s business suits. We've been drooling over matching top and and skirt, shirt and shorts, and blazer and gaucho combinations all summer long, so it's high time we got our readers up to speed on this surprisingly-easy-to-wear trend (after all, you don't have to put much thought into it). Click through the gallery to see our full report. Now, excuse us while we drool some more over Chloe's Resort collection.
