Rumor has it that the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, might not be expecting one sibling for Prince George.... but two! Betting has been closed on the Princess's pregnancy after a surge of bets that she is expecting twins sent the odds from 20/1 to 9/1.

According to The Daily Express, online betting websites William Hill and Coral both suspended bets last night after they experienced "a load of unexpected bets including a large number of new accounts," that made them pause. (200 bets in 2 hours would make us pause, too.)

The Duchess has been battling an extremely severe form of morning sickness called Hyperemesis Gravidarum for several weeks now, forcing Buckingham Palace to announce her pregnancy early, on September 8th. Just as the acute morning sickness has kept her from attending engagements and forced her to cancel her trip to Malta, it is now also fueling rumors about the next royal bundle of joy.

Women who suffer from Hyperemesis Gravidarum are more likely to be carrying more than one baby, as it is about 3 times more common for women carrying twins to suffer from HG than those carrying one baby.

Though Kate was forced to cancel royal duties in order to focus on her health, she is expected to resume her role in October. It became evident that the Duchess was starting to feel better when last week she and William delayed the announcement that he would replace her in Malta. It was clear that Kate really wanted to go -- and was possibly feeling up to it -- but better to be safe, she chose to stay home.

Update 10/1: The Duchess has been forced to cancel yet another engagement today due to her illness. She was set to attend an event with her charity The Art Room.
Though she couldn't be there, Duchess Kate sent a personally written note to the charity, which was read aloud for her:

I wanted to share my congratulations with you all for the launch of the new Clore Art Room. I was looking forward to joining you all for this particularly special day as part of The Clore Duffield Foundation's 50th Anniversary year.

I am truly sorry that I cannot be with you all today as you celebrate this milestone. As Patron of The Art Room I feel great pride to see the work that the charity is doing. Vulnerable children flourish in the safe havens that The Art Room provides; this highlights just how important it is to support children at a time when they most need help and support.

This partnership with The Clore Duffield Foundation is a significant moment for The Art Room. As I cannot thank the Foundation in person today, I would like to extend my thanks to Dame Vivien and her Foundation for supporting a cause so close to my heart, and making such a transformational facility available to the children of Barlby Primary School.

It really is hugely exciting to look to a future with even more Art Rooms, where the lives of many more challenging and vulnerable children will be transformed. I hope that you have a wonderful afternoon. My sincere apologies for not being able to join you but I hope that I will have an opportunity to visit Barlby and see the Clore Art Room soon.

Whether they have one, two, or three royal babies, we're just hoping that the Duchess has a healthy pregnancy and is feeling better soon! Click through the gallery above to see her best maternity style.
