I'm on the hunt for cheeky sweaters, the same kind that give Alexa Chung's charming style a little quirk. This Madewell Owl Sweater ($88) is a hoot (sorry, I had to) and it'll look sweet with my uniform of skinny jeans and ankle boots all season.

I've become absolutely obsessed with owning this Étoile Isabel Marant Phoebe Knit Pullover ($445). I'd love to put it on my holiday wish list, but I honestly don't think I can wait that long! The vermillion shade would be a great pop of color against dark denim or black trousers, and I think it would look cool with leather shorts and tights, too. I'm definitely hoping to make this my late-Fall staple sweater.

Aside from the fact that I'm going to have to try extra hard to avoid spills and stains, this Club Monaco Reva coat ($398) is already one of the most gorgeously simple white coats I've ever laid eyes on. But the plush faux-fur collar is what convinced me that I need to have it.

Leather iPhone cases definitely fit into that category of "necessary luxuries" for me, and this J. Crew Whipsnake Case ($30) is arguably my favorite of the season. Its print is subtle, chic, and versatile — who doesn't love a little Winter white to lend a stylish edge to your texting and Internet browsing? — while its cover is strong enough to not only make your iPhone look good, but also protect it. The best part? It is real snakeskin, for $30. You can't beat that.

I've been newly preoccupied with upgrading my Fall boot collection with a knee-high style I'll re-wear for years. These J.Crew Bryce High Heel Boots ($348) have that classic appeal that reminds me of Ali McGraw's great Fall looks in Love Story.

Zara's Leather Biker Coat ($199) is the perfect spin on a classic wool coat; the leather adds a hip, downtown-cool touch, and I love the brass hardware detail. I'll be wearing this slick topper with everything from LBDs to waxed denim and slouchy tees.

How gorgeous is this opulent Tibi Lace Skirt ($395)? Perfect for wearing with ankle boots and a chunky sweater for a day at the office and with a slinky silk top and heels come nightfall.

I saw a girl wearing these amazing merlot-colored waxed jeans on the subway platform (pre-Sandy), and was compelled to ask her where she got them. A quintessential girl move, they were just that good. Lo and behold, she cited these leather-like 7 For All Mankind High Shine skinny jeans ($189), and now I'm dreaming of all the ways I can wear them with my various Winter boots.

For me, the holidays are all about flash; that's why I'll be wearing these Miu Miu Metallic Leather Brogues ($685) from Thanksgiving dinner all the way until New Year's Eve. They're the perfect way to add a pop of glitz and glamour to my everyday sweater and jeans looks.

The ultimate Winter basic: this soft and cozy Club Monaco Julie Cashmere Turtleneck Sweater ($199) will be the perfect base layer to all of my cold weather outfits. Believe me, you'd be surprised with all the ways you can utilize a basic black turtleneck.

I am from the Northeast, so no Fall and Winter season would be complete without a pair of Bean boots. If you are looking for a Bean boot with some subtle style, go with the Bison 8" Boot by L.L. Bean ($129). You're still getting the same all-weather, waterproof duck boot that L.L.Bean is so well known for, but with an upgrade from the highly textured dark brown leather and rust colored sole. The best part is that these boots will only get better as you beat them up.

I have a bit of a slip dress obsession — I love the unexpectedly sexy and cozy combination of a slinky dress and a chunky cardigan. This Nation ltd Nigel Dress ($150) is the perfect starting place for the look with its autumnal red hue and easy, slouchy fit.

This Marc Jacobs Acrylic Pom Pom Hat ($39) is equal parts cool and quirky thanks to the fun faux fur pom-pom. In fact, it's affordable enough to buy it for yourself, and maybe, stock up on a few more as holiday gifts for your well deserving friends.

How unbelievably cozy and wintry does this J.Crew cashmere-mohair sweater ($350) look? I just want to wear it with everything, bundled up against an oversize scarf/snood and subtle fur-lined boots.

We got this Mulberry Zig-Zag Bag ($2,750) in the office a few months ago for a video shoot, and it was an immediate hit. It's one of those pieces that has enough personality with its colorful embellishments to instantly update a look for Fall, while also being neutral enough — and large enough — to become your go-to day bag for the season. It may be a serious investment, but you will use this bag, and love it, forever.

I'm not one to wear metallics but I can't seem seem to resist these Phillip Lim Peggy Boots ($725). The crackle gold makes the perfect statement piece without going over the top and while it might not be conducive to walking in puddles, I love the modern white heel.

For effortlessly cool downtown layering, I'm looking for a longer faux fur vest, like this DKNY Sleeveless Faux Fur Jacket ($404) that I can throw on in my usually hurried Saturday morning rush to brunch — and still look chic.

It may not be the smartest move for me to invest in a new pair of flats as the weather becomes less and less inviting, but I'm a sucker for a great print. And Repetto's camo-print leather ballet flats ($375) combine my love of this season's cool camouflage comeback, comfy flats, and a slick velvety texture.

This Zara Military Coat ($189) would lend a little of Emmanuelle Alt's effortless Parisian-chic, for under $200. Kind of amazing.
