The Bobbi Brown lifestyle: Beauty from the inside out
"I'm a huge fan of eating healthy. I believe that great skin is 70% what you put in your mouth and 30% what you put on your face, so I eat a healthy diet so that it reflects on the outside. To me, being healthy is about incorporating a well-balanced diet and exercise into your lifestyle. It's really about finding something you're comfortable with and that you can stick to. I don't believe in being a fanatic about food, but I know I feel better when I eat better." When we stopped by Bobbi's Soho headquarters in NYC last summer, we were greeted with one of Bobbi's favorite breakfasts – a fresh green smoothie. See below for the kale shake recipe Bobbi swears by.
Bobbi Brown's Coconut Kale Shake Recipe:
·1 cup of ice
·1 cup coconut milk
·¼ cup of cocoa powder
·2 tablespoons of chia seeds
·2 scoops of chocolate protein powder
·½ frozen organic banana
·A handful of frozen organic cherries
·½ to 1 cup of kale, depending on personal taste
Add all ingredients to blender (Vitamix recommended) and blend for one minute until you have a smoothie. Pour and serve.
While a healthy diet is important, exercise is just as essential for Bobbi. "I also try to exercise every day – even if it's just for 30 minutes. If I don't have time to work out, I'll take a quick walk around the block or I'll take the stairs, instead of the elevator. I love to start my days off with some yoga or I'll go spinning or running. Exercising in the morning leaves me feeling energized and transformed," Bobbi says.
Even a woman as busy as Bobbi can make time in her daily routine for exercise and a wholesome diet -- proof that beauty really does start from the inside out.
