The Best Holiday Nail Colors For Your Skin Tone

Lippmann Collection Nail Lacquer in Wicked Game, $16

The silvery lavender Wicked Game manages to work well on any skin tone. "Its iridescent quality makes it wear differently on everyone's skin, and depending on what you're wearing, like a mood ring," says Lippmann.

Lippmann Collection Nail Lacquer in Happy Birthday, $16

For an easy day-to-night transition, she suggests brushing on Happy Birthday, which also looks great on everyone. "It has every color glitter, and just one coat gives the right amount of festive effect," she says.

Essie Mint Candy Apple, $8

"This light, minty cream shade would look really good on very pale, fair skin with blue undertones," says Lippmann. However, she also suggests that women with dark or medium brown skin, like the models Alek Wek and Chanel Iman, can rock this color too.

OPI Nail Lacquer in Shim-merry Chic, $8.50

Copper is a great match for warm-toned skin. Are you African-American, Asian or Latina? This is a fantastic choice.

Wet n Wild Festive Flirt Nail Enamel in Gumdrop, $1.99

It can go from day to night, but Lippmann warns that shimmer is appropriate for most offices, but glitter is strictly for nighttime.

Zoya UltraGlitter Nail Polish in Nova, $7

Much like choosing the right red lipstick, go with your skin's undertones for the best results for crimson nails, too. Cool skin tones look best in blue-reds, while orange-reds are ideal for warm tones.

Sally Hansen Diamond Strength No Chip Nail Color in Mon Cheri, $4.75

But if you absolutely love a red that's "wrong" for your skin, here's Lippmann's fabulous suggestion: find a blue-red with golden flecks to complement warmer skin, or an orange-red with silver shimmer to flatter cool skin tones.
