Description:The carcass of a humpback whale lies on the sand at Canada's White Rock Beach. In an event rarely seen, the young whale - measuring between 8 and 10 metres long - washed ashore on Tuesday morning at the beach south of Vancouver. It is thought to have been alive when discovered, but later died on shore. A fishing line found wrapped around the whale's lacerated body suggested its death may have been caused by rope entanglement.(0:37)
