Tax Evasion Trial Begins For Disgraced Legislator

Description:Another politician from the Chicago area will be in federal court. This time it’s Cook County Commissioner William Beavers, who is charged with tax evasion. Federal prosecutors say Beavers spent $226,000 in campaign funds on personal expenses and never paid taxes on it. They say Beavers also failed to pay taxes on $69,000 in campaign contributions that he placed in a city retirement fund in 2006, in order to more than double his monthly pension. (1:29)
