Description:Most of us know what a modern day camel looks like. But around 3.5 million years ago, giant camels roamed the arctic forests, and today their remains have been found in Canada. 30 bone fragments were found in the tundra. The remains were mummified, rather than fossilized, and had remnants of collagen proteins. Protein analysis of the bones shows that the animal is related to present day camels. (1:08)
