Orson Welles' Oscar Sold

Description:Orson Welles' Academy Award for "Citizen Kane" was sold at auction on Tuesday (December 20) for just under 862,000 dollars (USD). Known for his distinctive voice, actor-writer-director Welles received the award for Best Original Screenplay in 1942, the only Oscar that either "Citizen Kane" or Orson Welles ever won. The Oscar is one of only a handful of Academy Awards that have sold for nearly a million dollars, with illusionist David Copperfield among the bidders from around the world. (1:12)
