Description:A San Diego police officer is being called a hero after helping a woman and her two daughters escape from a burning apartment building. The fire started at about 11:20 p.m. Monday at an apartment complex on Caminito Aguilar. It began as a grease fire in a woman’s kitchen. She ran to a neighbor’s apartment for help, and he unsuccessfully tried to put the fire out with an extinguisher, witnesses said. (1:59)
