Clashes in Turkey

Description:Clashes erupted in Turkey's largest city of Istanbul on Thursday (December 29) during a pro-Kurdish demonstration against an air raid near Turkish-Iraqi border that claimed lives of at least 35 people. Police used tear gas and water cannon to disperse the crowd. Turkish warplanes launched air strikes against suspected Kurdish militants in northern Iraq near the Turkish border overnight, the military said on Thursday, but local officials said the attack that the 35 killed were smugglers.
