16-Car Chain Reaction Crashes Shut Down 101 Freeway

Description:Slick roads may be to blame for chain-reaction crashes on the 101 Freeway in Hollywood early Friday morning. Six separate accidents involving 16 cars had shut down the southbound side of the freeway near Barham Boulevard. It all started with a solo-vehicle accident around 12:20 a.m., followed by five subsequent crashes, according to the California Highway Patrol. (2:29)
