Rapper Tory Lanez ordered to keep his distance from Megan Thee Stallion, surrender any guns

Rapper Tory Lanez was ordered to stay far away from Megan Thee Stallion and any firearms Tuesday during his first court hearing on charges he wounded the “Savage” singer’s feet in a July shooting.

Lanez, 28, appeared at the Los Angeles hearing by phone. His criminal lawyer Shawn Holley asked the court to delay his arraignment until Nov. 18, and the judge agreed.

The judge also granted a request from prosecutors that his bail be raised from $35,000 to $190,000, and he had a bail bondsman in the courtroom who stood up and said he was ready to post the new amount.

Lanez must stay at least 100 yards away from Megan at all times and “have no personal, electronic, telephonic or written contact” with her, the judge said.

He can’t obtain any firearms or ammunition and must sell or surrender any guns he already has, Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Miguel Espinoza said.

“You have been served orally and the court is ordering your attorney to provide you with that protective order,” the judge said.

Lanez, whose legal name is Daystar Peterson, was charged last week with one felony count each of assault with a semiautomatic firearm — personal use of a firearm — and carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle.

He faces up to 22 years and eight months in prison if convicted.

According to prosecutors, Lanez was driving in an SUV with his 25-year-old victim in the Hollywood Hills when the pair “got into an argument.”

The Los Angeles County District Attorney didn’t identify Megan by name but said she exited the vehicle before Lanez shot at her feet several times, wounding her.

Megan — born Megan Jovon Ruth Pete — described the harrowing incident in a video posted to her Instagram stories in late July.

“I was shot in both of my feet and I had to get surgery to get the sh-- taken out, get the bullets taken out,” she said.

“It was super scary. It was like just the worst experience of my life,” she said.

“Thank God that the bullets didn’t touch bones, they didn’t break tendons,” she explained. “Where the bullets hit at, it missed everything."

The “WAP” singer remained vague about the circumstances that led up to the shooting but said others floated false “narratives.

“I didn’t put my hands on nobody,” she said. “I didn’t deserve to get shot.”

Lanez addressed the charges in a Twitter post last week, using emojis to say “time will tell.”

“The truth will come to the light,” Lanez tweeted. “I have all faith in God to show.”

He expressed gratitude for the “true” fans “who know my heart.”

“A charge is not a conviction. If you have supported me or meg thru this, I genuinely appreciate u,” he tweeted.
