A woman died at Lake Berryessa after being knocked off a boat in an accident, California sheriff’s officials told news outlets.

The accident, which officials did not describe, took place just before 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26, in the mouth of the narrows, Napa County sheriff’s officials told KRON.

Rescuers found her body in 150 feet of water about 9 p.m. north of Pleasure Cove Resort, sheriff’s officials told the Napa Valley Register.

The sheriff’s department has not classified her death as a drowning, nor has it released her name, pending notification of her family.

Three people drowned within two weeks of each other at Lake Berryessa earlier this summer, McClatchy News reported.

Zaire Watu Fairley, 18, of Vallejo fell off a log into the water July 10, while visiting the Smittle Creek Day Use Area with friends.

Marciallo Perez, 35, drowned July 3 while trying to rescue his son, who survived, and Demetrio Perriatt, 16, drowned while rafting on the lake on June 27.

Lake Berryessa is “one of the largest bodies of fresh water in California” and offers boating, water skiing, wake-boarding, tubing, kayaking, swimming and fishing, according to Visit Napa Valley.

It is about 75 miles west of Sacramento.
