Traffic alert: Storage fire sends smoke to the Palmetto Expressway, shuts down a ramp

A fire at a storage complex near the Palmetto expressway sent smoke onto the highway early Tuesday and shut down a ramp.

Closed ramp: Police shut down the exit ramp of the Palmetto Expressway at Northwest 37th Avenue in the Miami Gardens area through morning rush hour.

Alternate routes: Red Road and Ludlam Road.

Traffic: Drivers saw smokey conditions on State Road 826 in the 37th Avenue area.

Storage facility: Several storage units were on fire, with visible flames and smoke. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue reported around 10 a.m. Tuesday that the two-alarm in the 3400 block of Northwest 167th Street was under control.
