Traffic alert: I-95 car fire causing heavy delays from Broward to Miami-Dade

A car fire on Interstate 95 in Broward County sent traffic into gridlock during Friday’s morning rush hour, with delays stretching all the way into Miami-Dade County.

The car fire happened in the northbound lanes of I-95 near Hollywood Boulevard. TV helicopter video shortly after 7 a.m. showed traffic backed up to Ives Dairy Road, at the border of Miami-Dade and Broward counties.

The fire is out, but drivers should seek another route if they want to avoid heavy delays. Consider 441, University Drive or U.S. 1 to avoid the mess, and being late to work or school.
