One dead in motorhome fire in rural SLO County
One person died after a motorhome crashed and caught fire in rural San Luis Obispo County on Tuesday night, according to Cal Fire.
Firefighters responded to reports of a motor vehicle accident with fire in the area of Blue Road off Highway 58 east of Santa Margarita around 8:42 p.m.
The vehicle was believed to have been occupied, Cal Fire said.
The fire quickly spread to the nearby vegetation, sparking a wildfire. Forward progress on the wildfire was stopped at a quarter acre.
As of 9:24 p.m., the fire was 45% contained.

Meanwhile, the vehicle was fully destroyed by the fire, and a single occupant was found deceased, according to Cal Fire.
According to CHP’s traffic incident report page, the burned vehicle was a “Class C motorhome” that appeared to have driven off the roadway and into the nearby creek.
California Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
