Mapperley: Diversions after diesel bus catches fire

Bus services in Nottinghamshire are suffering "severe delays" after a vehicle fire led to a partial road closure.

Emergency services were called to Spring Lane in Mapperley on Saturday morning after a fire on a bus.

Nottingham City Transport said at about 11:20 BST the 46 and 47 services are diverting in both directions via Colliery Way and Lambley Lane.

Nottinghamshire Police said no injuries were reported.

In a statement Nottingham City Transport said one of its diesel buses on the Sky Blue Line 47 caught fire on Mapperley Plains, with the driver evacuating the bus before calling emergency services.

The bus operator said its team was working at the scene with all agencies to determine the cause of the fire.
