What Your Dad Really Wants to Eat on Father's Day

We take a look back at our dads' favorite foods to help us craft the perfect Father's Day meal.

Although my dad hasn't made his self-proclaimed "gourmet" tuna casserole in 20 years, he's definitely a foodie. He always has great new restaurants to try and his favorites to go back to. Because of him, I'm basically a celebrity at his favorite hot dog joint.

My dad loves salmon and all things seafood!

When I was growing up, we'd go to my grandparents' house for Father's Day and grill out on their patio. We loved having hamburgers and "grandpa's hot dogs," which basically just meant hot dogs sliced down the middle and grilled. Now that the kids in my family aren't quick as picky, we like grilling shrimp and fish with my dad at home.

Some of my favorite memories and moments are from helping my dad while he grills. He taught me how to season and marinate meat and vegetables and to this day, makes the best steak I've ever had.

For something truly special, his favorite food is Osso Buco.

My dad's favorite food is Veal Spezzato--chopped up veal mixed with peas and gravy. He didn't have a lot of money growing up, so whenever his grandmother put veal on the table, it was such a delicious delicacy.

My dad has an ice cream obsession. If it is served in a cone, he will most definitely go back for seconds, and if it's a shake, he will always order the biggest size, and when it's gone, wish he had more.

As I got older, it didn't take me long to realize that this love for ice cream (and a lot of it) came from my grandpa who I've seen request seconds at our local ice cream shop more than once.
