Under the Sea with Shrimp & Prawns

Are they the same thing? Sometimes a large shrimp is referred to as a "prawn." Other times, the term "shrimp" describes both prawns and shrimp. Yet in some circles "prawn" also describes both shrimp and prawns. Something is fishy here! These often interchanged specimens both have exoskeletons and ten legs and live in salt and fresh water around the world. Not only do they share the same living environment near the ocean floor, they even share similar flavor. It all comes down to size when distinguishing between the two. Prawns tend to lean on the larger size while shrimp are relatively on the smaller size.
