Reel Meals: A 1950s-Style Drive-In Dinner

Updated

From diners to drive-ins, we take a look back at classic American foods reminiscent of the 1950s as we celebrate the 35th anniversary of the film, Grease.

Set in the 1950s, the musical film Grease brought us beloved songs like "Summer Nights" and "Beauty School Drop-Out" as well as some serious fashion moments, from the Pink Ladies' and the T-Birds' jackets to Sandy's famed tight black ensemble at the end of the film. What many forget are those amazing scenes at the traditional diner and at the drive-in movie where cartoon hot dog advertisements fill the big screen.

Today, we pay tribute to those moments with a menu that celebrates the classic American foods of the '50s. Try making these dishes next time you watch this sweet summer flick.

Check out the slideshow above for everything you need to make a classic 1950s diner meal at home.
