Market research shows consumer demand for products that combine flavor opposites like sweet and salty. Over the past few years, many sweet and salty products have entered the market, most noticeably during the holiday season as limited-time flavors, reports USA Today.

The limited-time flavor will only be sold at Target stores during the holiday season, and a five-ounce bag of the sweet and salty snack is priced at $3.49.

Frito Lay's vice president of marketing, Ram Krishnan, tells USA Today that if the new flavor is well-received, it could become a permanent addition to the line-up and open doors to new flavor combinations like dark chocolate, white chocolate and peppermint.
