The Healthy Lunchbox

Breakfast may be the most important meal of the day, but the invigoration of a healthy lunch for school is irreplaceable. Steer clear of packing the sugary, processed foods that provide short-lived, unhealthy bursts of energy. A "sugar crash" can leave kids feeling tired, grouchy, and often times a little sick because sugar stimulates the body's release of insulin, a chemical that rapidly decreases the level of sugar in the blood. Healthy portions of lean proteins, complex carbohydrates, healthy fats and plenty of water are just what kids need to stay focused and energized for their class periods. Include a balanced lunch with vegetable and fruit snacks to ensure your kids have all the fuel they need to succeed.
