Make Way for What's Healthful

To make space for more healthy options in your kitchen, be sure to purge food that's old, unhealthy or that'll never be touched. If it has freezer-burn, has expired or is unidentifiable, it's ready for the trash can, offers Ellie. If you aren't ready to toss your unhealthy snacks and sugary cereals, think about moving them to a harder-to-reach top shelf.

Buy Frozen Produce

Now that you have de-cluttered your freezer, there is plenty of room to fill it with frozen fruits and veggies. Just make sure they don't have added sugar or sauce.

Even if you can't make it to the store, you'll always have some healthy options in the freezer to munch on.

Replenish with Whole Grains

You feel full quicker when eating whole grains, so bringing whole grain breads, brown rices, whole grain pastas, quinoa and bulgur into your pantry is the way to go.

Update Your Spice Cabinet

Fresh herbs and spices can do wonders for food and for your health. By making sure your stash is always fresh, you'll be able to add more flavor to food and limit the need for salt.

Curate a Beautiful Fruit Bowl

According to research in Environment and Behavior, you have a better chance of eating food if you see it often and it looks appetizing. With this in mind, Ellie recommends keeping a lovely fruit bowl in your kitchen and consistently updating it.
