"My mom, dad and most of my other family members always thought that I would become a veterinarian," Fabio shares. "Some of them still think I will change career paths."

Favorite Summer Job

"My favorite summer job as a kid was picking watermelon in a field and then loading them onto a truck. When the truck was full, I would drive it to the farmers house, which was less than a mile away, and sell them for 200 lira each (about 15 cents). I was 10 years old," says Fabio.

Sleep Inspiration

"I get my best ideas while sleeping; in fact, they wake me up," Fabio shares. "I keep a notepad by my bedside so I won’t forget them in the morning. These notes are the first things I look at in the morning."

At an early age, Fabio Viviani became passionate about food. Too young to actually join the staff of a bakery, he choose to work nights to get into the world of food. Fabio received training in Italian and Mediterranean cuisine and has both owned and operated five restaurants in Florence, Italy. The busy chef is probably best known for appearing on Top Chef in 2008, becoming the "Fan Favorite." Even if you were his biggest fan on the show, there is still much more you likely don't know about the chef.
