Is Julian Edelman starting at quarterback?

Is Julian Edelman the new starter at quarterback for the New England Patriots with Jacoby Brissett injured?

In incredible fashion, the New England Patriots have won three straight games to begin the season despite missing Tom Brady and then losing Jimmy Garoppolo. On Thursday night, Jacoby Brissett led the team to a huge shutout victory over the Houston Texans. Julian Edelman was the emergency backup just in case.

Now, Brissett has torn thumb ligaments and is expected to undergo surgery. While the Patriots have just a week to go until Tom Brady returns, they still need a quarterback. That leaves emergency quarterback Edelman.

That means that either the Patriots are going to have to rush Garoppolo back to play next week or Bill Belichick needs to pull out another miracle next week. There isn't much available on the free agent market and it's tough to bring in a quarterback off the streets.

However, could the Patriots roll with Edelman at quarterback for one week against the Bills? It would take the ultimate game plan to pull it off, but Belichick is the one that can get it done. There's no sense in rushing Garoppolo back from injury as they will need him to back up Brady when he returns.

The likely case is they bring someone in for one start. The odds are once again stacked again the Patriots, which means that they'll pull off some incredible upset.
