Colorado man arrested for throwing a glass of water on Iowa Rep. Steve King

Police in Iowa arrested a Colorado man after he allegedly threw a glass of water on Iowa Rep. Steve King at a restaurant in the Hawkeye State.

The incident happened around 12:30 p.m. Friday at the Mineral City Mill and Grill in Fort Dodge, police said.

The Republican Congressman was eating lunch with others when authorities say he was splashed by 26-year-old Blake Gibbins.

Gibbins was charged with simple assault and disorderly conduct.

The incident comes less than a week after the controversial politician posted a Facebook meme seemingly calling for a second civil war in the United States. The post was later deleted.

Days ago, King spoke at a town hall meeting and accused Hurricane Katrina victims of looking for handouts.

“Here’s what FEMA tells me: We go to a place like New Orleans and everybody’s looking around saying, ‘Who’s gonna help me, who’s gonna help me?’" King said. "When FEMA responds to problems in Iowa, they’re just always gratified when they come and see how Iowans take care of each other.”

Damage from recent flooding in Iowa reached $1.6 billion dollars Friday. Hurricane Katrina’s damage costs were more than 100 times that number.
