President Trump praises Melania for the ‘spectacular job’ she did hosting state dinner

President Trump on Wednesday tweeted praise for Melania Trump and the extraordinary work she did putting together Tuesday’s state dinner.

“@FLOTUS did a spectacular job hosting the President of France @EmmanuelMacron and his wife Brigitte,” President Trump wrote. “Every detail was done to perfection. The State Dining Room never looked more beautiful, and Washington is abuzz over what an incredible job Melania did.”

While the president is known to exaggerate at times, this does not appear to be one of them.

CNN reports that “every last detail for Tuesday evening’s state dinner [was] thoughtfully and carefully overseen by the first lady, who, unlike some of her predecessors, did not hire an event planner or other outside consultants.”

Melania Trump included a number of touches that referenced the long relationship the U.S. and France share, including serving Oregon wine grown from French vines and jambalaya, a French-inspired dish, on the menu.

The room itself, decorated in cream and gold, was described by the Washington Post as being “understated but with a touch of that recognizable Trump flash.”

“It would seem that the first lady earned a solid A-plus for her first diplomatic outing,” the publication also noted.
