Report: Bolton poised to oust NSC staffers ‘disloyal’ to Trump

Newly named National Security Adviser John Bolton is reportedly planning a major staff shake-up at the National Security Council.

According to Foreign Policy magazine, “Those targeted for removal include officials believed to have been disloyal to President Donald Trump, those who have leaked about the president to the media, his predecessor’s team, and those who came in under Obama.”

In fact, one insider is quoted as saying bluntly, “Everyone who was there during Obama years should start packing their s**t."

Trump announced the change in leadership on Thursday.

“I am pleased to announce that, effective 4/9/18, @AmbJohnBolton will be my new National Security Advisor. I am very thankful for the service of General H.R. McMaster who has done an outstanding job & will always remain my friend. There will be an official contact handover on 4/9,” Trump tweeted.

Critics have since blasted the decision, with the New York Times editorial board calling it “alarming.”

The board’s recent op-ed states, “Mr. Bolton, in particular, believes the United States can do what it wants without regard to international law, treaties or the political commitments of previous administrations.”
