Trump says Obama wanted to ‘discredit’ him so ‘crooked’ Hillary would win

President Trump took to Twitter Monday morning and lashed out at former President Obama.

“Why did the Obama Administration start an investigation into the Trump Campaign (with zero proof of wrongdoing) long before the Election in November? Wanted to discredit so Crooked H would win. Unprecedented. Bigger than Watergate! Plus, Obama did NOTHING about Russian meddling,” Trump wrote on Twitter.

This is one of many tweets Trump has posted in recent past, criticizing the prior administration over the probe into Russia’s role in the 2016 election.

Citing Fox News, Trump tweeted last month, “Russians had no compromising information on Donald Trump,” and “this whole Witch Hunt is an illegal disgrace…Obama did nothing about Russia!”

Trump has also called on the Justice Department to investigate Obama.

“Question: If all of the Russian meddling took place during the Obama Administration, right up to January 20th, why aren’t they the subject of the investigation? Why didn’t Obama do something about the meddling? Why aren’t Dem crimes under investigation? Ask Jeff Sessions!” Trump wrote in one of the tweets.

The president’s tweets come weeks after the Justice Department announced indictments against Russian nationals for meddling in US elections.

“The indictment charges thirteen Russian nationals and three Russian companies for committing federal crimes while seeking to interfere in the United States political system, including the 2016 Presidential election,” the department noted in a news release. “The defendants allegedly conducted what they called ‘information warfare against the United States,’ with the stated goal of ‘spread[ing] distrust towards the candidates and the political system in general.’”
