CNN: State Of The Union will include 'eye-opening' remarks about North Korea

Updated

President Trump's State of the Union address will reportedly include some "eye-opening" remarks about the United States' efforts to curtail North Korea's nuclear program.

A source told CNN that the president intends to talk about the matter in a way that is "strong and serious."

That individual also predicts that the comments about North Korea will dominate Wednesday's headlines.

CNN notes that a number of Trump's associates have touted his approach to Kim Jong Un's rogue regime as being successful, with some saying it was the U.S. president’s "strategic rhetoric" that prompted Winter Olympics-related talks between North and South Korea.

The two countries agreed that the North would participate in the games, which are being held in the South, reports Al Jazeera.

Despite such diplomatic outreach, North Korea appears to be moving ahead with the nuclear program at a rapid pace.

On Monday, CIA Director Mike Pompeo told BBC News that the country appears to be "a handful of months" away from being able to reach the U.S. with a nuclear weapon.

He made a similar comment last week during an appearance on 'CBS This Morning.’'
