Comey uses Statue Of Liberty poem to take apparent jab at Trump over ‘s---hole’ remark

Shortly after reports on President Trump’s alleged “s---thole” remark in reference to some countries, former FBI director James Comey took to Twitter on Thursday and cited a poem engraved on Statue of Liberty.

“‘Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!’” Comey tweeted.

He also wrote, “This country’s greatness and true genius lies in its diversity.”

The Washington Post reported Thursday, citing inside sources, that Trump, apparently frustrated during a meeting with lawmakers on immigration, said in reference to Haiti, El Salvador, and African countries, “Why are we having all these people from shithole countries come here?”

Comey has become somewhat of an expert at subtweets.

Back in November, the former FBI director made an apparent dig at Trump’s grievance about not getting more praise for the release of three UCLA basketball players from China.

“‘A good leader takes a little more than his share of the blame, a little less than his share of the credit.’ Arnold H. Glasow (1905-1998),” Comey tweeted.
