Insider: Melania Trump didn’t want to be first lady

President Trump’s dutiful wife is a reluctant first lady.

Melania Trump reportedly had no interest in the White House, despite her husband’s desire for power.

“This isn’t something she wanted and it isn’t something he ever thought he’d win,” a longtime friend of the Trumps told Vanity Fair.

“She didn’t want this come hell or high water. I don’t think she thought it was going to happen.”

Rumors of Trump’s disinclination have circulated since the former real estate mogul’s nomination, particularly when she remained in New York with son Barron until June when she finally joined her husband in Washington, D.C.

First wife Ivana, however, thinks Donald himself may be questioning his presidency too.

"I think he's missing a little bit of his old life,” she said on The Ray D'Arcy Show Saturday.

"You know he was in Trump Tower, and he would go to Mar-a-Lago, he would go to play golf on Westchester, and things like that,” she said.

“From 8 o'clock in the morning to midnight, he's working, working, working and everybody shoves at him the problem of the country.”

She also said he “must be freaking exhausted.”

A spokesperson for Melania Trump did not immediately return a request for comment.
