Poll: 1 in 4 American service members say they've witnessed white nationalism in ranks

A new poll from the Military Times finds 1 in 4 American service members say they’ve witnessed white nationalism in the ranks.

The poll was put out one month after the "Unite the Right" rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, that left one dead and others wounded.

The poll found that 30 percent of respondents said white nationalists pose a significant threat to the U.S, compared to the 27 percent who answered the same about Syria and 25 percent who answered the question on Pakistan.

Afghanistan and Iraq came in at 22 and 17 percent, respectively.

One anonymous Navy commander told the Times, "White Nationalism is not a terrorist organization."

Another person, an Air Force staff sergeant asked, "You do realize white nationalists and racists are two totally different types of people?"

An additional nearly five percent left comments complaining that Black Lives Matter wasn't included in the threats to national security.
