Trump aide Sebastian Gorka resigns from White House

President Trump’s adviser Sebastian Gorka has resigned because his political rivals were “ascendant within the White House” according to a report.

The controversial aide is leaving his post as deputy assistant to the President, and made reference to the departure of fellow Breitbart News alum Steve Bannon, according to The Federalist.

“Regrettably, outside of yourself, the individuals who most embodied and represented the policies that will ‘Make America Great Again,’ have been internally countered, systematically removed, or undermined in recent months,” Gorka reportedly said in a letter to Trump.

He added that “given recent events, it is clear to me that forces that do not support the MAGA promise are – for now – ascendant within the White House,” he said.

Many had suspected that Gorka would be the next person thrown from the whirlwind of the White House after the departure of Bannon, who he previously worked for as national security editor at Breitbart.

News of Bannon's departure came last week, as the Trump administration reeled from the President's tepid response to white supremacist violence in Charlottesville, Va.
