GOP congressman storms out of interview after town hall questions

Republican Rep. Rod Blum abruptly walked out of an interview with local Iowa station KCRG-TV on Monday after being asked why he's checking people's IDs for a town hall later that night -- and unfortunately for Blum, the video is going viral.

The heated exchange began when reporter Josh Scheinblum asked Blum about why he refused access to Monday's town hall to individuals who didn't live in his district. Scheinblum suggested that Blum's actions in Congress impact all Iowans, and perhaps constituents outside of his district may be interested in what he has to say.

Blum responded saying, "I don't represent all Iowans — I represent the First District of Iowa."

"That would be like saying, 'Shouldn't I be able to, even though I live in Dubuque, be able to go vote in Iowa City during the election because I'd like to vote in that district instead?'" said Blum, who insisted on being flanked by children during the interview, according to KCRG-TV.

The reporter followed up asking, "Would you still take donations from a Republican in Iowa City?"

After a nervous laugh, Blum then quickly ripped off his mic saying, "I'm done here."

The reporter asked Blum to sit back down and continue the interview. "We haven't even started," he said.

"This is ridiculous. This is ridiculous." said Blum. "He's just going to sit here and badger me," he continued as the children surrounding the congressman began to exit the room with shocked and puzzlingly looks on their faces.

The interview ended before Blum was given a chance to answer questions about his vote for the repeal and replacement of Obamacare.
