Service dog killed after veteran allegedly ties it to tree, shoots it

An army veteran in North Carolina allegedly tied her service dog to a tree and killed it execution style.

According to the Fayetteville Observer, 23-year-old Marinna Rollins was arrested on Tuesday on animal cruelty charges.

A fellow soldier, Jarren Heng, filmed the incident.

The pair allegedly brought the dog into the woods where it was shot five times with a rifle.

PEOPLE reports that the video of the shooting was used by the Cumberland County District Attorney's Office at the trial.

Court documents state that Rollins received medical retirement from the military. Her friends said she adopted the dog to help her cope with PTSD.
