Ban Kellyanne Conway from television? Mika Brzezinski calls for networks to blackball Trump aide

Updated

MSNBC's Mika Brzezinski made waves in February when she said that White House counselor Kellyanne Conway would never again be booked on "Morning Joe," which she co-hosts with Joe Scarborough, a former Republican congressman.

But on Tuesday she took her criticism to a whole new level.

"I feel even more so that everyone should ban her," Brzezinski told Variety in an interview released this week. "It's clear she doesn't know exactly what she's talking about. It's clear she's making it up as she goes along."

"I think it denigrates what we do," she added.

Joe Scarborough, who also participated in the interview, took a dig at the Trump adviser too.

"Mika, she did teach us about microwaves," he said, a reference to Conway's assertion that the kitchen appliances double as powerful surveillance tools.

To add insult to injury, noted that she had named her microwave after Conway.

"Every time I open it, which is frequently, because I don't cook, I say, 'Thank you, Kellyanne!'" she said.

The microwave comment was a reference to Conway's recent response to President Donald Trump's claims that Obama had wiretapped Trump Tower during the election -- an allegation which has been scrutinized, but remains unverified by any government officials.

"There are many ways to surveil each other," Conway said in that interview. "You can surveil someone through their phones, certainly through their television sets — any number of different ways."

"Microwaves that turn into cameras," she added. "We know that is just a fact of modern life."

Conway has been making fewer appearances on television in recent weeks after being a public face of the campaign during much of the campaign cycle and early days of the Trump presidency.
