Intruder carrying backpack arrested after breaching White House grounds

An intruder was arrested on White House grounds late Friday night while President Trump was still on the premises, according to a report by CNN.

Secret Service sources say a man carrying a backpack breached White House security before being apprehended by U.S. Secret Service agents at an entrance near the president's residence.

The intruder may have first entered the grounds on the east side and then made his way near the residence's south portico entrance, according to sources.

President Trump was not in any danger from the security breach, which occurred around midnight, but the White House was placed under security condition "orange," one of the highest levels of security for the Secret Service, the cable television network reported.

The suspect was arrested by the Secret Service and taken into custody, but the contents of the suspect's backpack is currently unclear.
