President Trump gives himself poor grade on messaging

Updated

In an appearance on FOX News' "Fox & Friends," President Trump gave himself an A+ for achievement and hard work, but only a C or a C+ in regards to how well he has communicated with the nation.

During the segment, which was recorded on Monday and broadcast on Tuesday, Trump was asked to grade himself on a scale from A to F.

He responded, "I think in terms of effort, which means something, but I give myself an A+, but results are more important."

Trump continued, "In terms of messaging I would give myself a C or a C+. So, my messaging isn't good. When I see a story about how Donald Trump didn't fill hundreds and hundreds of jobs, in many cases it's because we don't want to fill those jobs."

He further noted, "A lot of those jobs are unnecessary to have. You know, we have so many people in government...what do all these people do?"

Trump said that at Tuesday's address to a Congressional joint session he will work towards fixing his and his administration's messaging problems.

The president reflected on his performance during the recent Governors Ball as well.

In his address, Trump told those in attendance, "I can say that after four weeks, it's been a lot of fun but we've accomplished almost everything we've started out to accomplish. The borders are stricter, tighter. We're doing a really good job."
