'To the Love of My Life': Barack and Michelle Obama tweet Valentines to each other

As pressure mounts in Washington over national security adviser Michael Flynn's resignation amid Russia controversy, Michelle and Barack Obama are still enjoying a well-deserved vacation.

The Obamas jetted to Palm Springs shortly after President Trump's inauguration and soaked up sun with billionaire-pal Richard Branson on his private island. And on their first Valentine's Day post-White House life, the former first couple appears the most relaxed we've seen in years, as evidenced by Michelle Obama's recent Valentine's Date note to her husband on Twitter.

"Happy Valentine's Day to the love of my life and favorite island mate, Barack Obama," the former first lady wrote alongside a photo of the couple's sun-kissed feet in the sand.

It wasn't long before her husband took to Twitter to respond to her Valentine's Day note.

"Happy Valentine's Day, MIchelle Obama! Almost 28 years with you, but it always feels new," Barack Obama tweeted with a photo taken of the couple snuggled up in the Oval Office.

And naturally, the internet lit up with reactions to gush over the couple's affectionate display:
