Having a baby after age 35 can increase your mental health

Starting a family later in life could be better for your mental health.

According to a recent study by American Geriatric Society, tests were done with 830 middle-aged women, concluding if one has their children later in life, their brainpower will be boosted while protecting one from memory loss.

Brainpower is stronger, they believe, due to the increased amount of hormones that rush the body during pregnancy.

These hormones increase brain function.

Dr. Roksana Karim, lead author of the study at University of California said "'While it is not enough to suggest that women wait until after 35 years of age to close their family growth, our finding of a positive effect of later age at last pregnancy on late-life cognition is novel and substantial.'

The study states 'it is biologically plausible that a late pregnancy might offer protection against cognitive decline in later life'.

The study also suggest women who have their children earlier in life from ages 15-24 have declining health midlife.

So ladies, if you're planning your family later in life, don't you worry you'll be sharp as a tack thanks to your later pregnancy.
