Donald Trump impersonator takes New York City by storm during provocative performance

Updated

A Donald Trump impersonator caused a stir in New York City Tuesday, as the Republican presidential nominee lookalike drew large crowds as part of a performance art piece.

Renowned British artist and author Alison Jackson staged her latest performance art event in Midtown Manhattan. Jackson, who is well-known for her work with celebrity lookalikes, positioned a Trump impersonator alongside bikini-clad women during Tuesday's provocative, at times raunchy, performance.

Jackson is a photographer and performance best known for posing celebrity impersonators in unique and provocative settings, including the British royal family and President John Kennedy.

For her Tuesday performance in New York City, Jackson juxtaposed her "Trump" alongside scantily-clad women dubbed "beauty queens," who held signs featuring degrading messages Trump has been accused of using.

"You can't grab America by the p****," one sign read.

Another read "Miss Piggy," a phrase the Republican nominee allegedly used to describe former Miss Universe Alicia Machado, which Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton referenced during the first presidential debate.

The "flash mob" also chanted slogans including "Don't touch our bodies!"

The performance started at Trump International, in Manhattan and then made its way to Trump Tower, but not before being stopped by New York Police on its way.

The final destination was Times Square, ending the performance art protest in one of New York City's highest-trafficked tourist destinations.

Jackson also hosted a gallery opening Tuesday evening at HG Contemporary Gallery in Chelsea, featuring her Donald Trump collection -- complete with the Trump impersonator and "the girls."
