FRANKLIN, Va. (WTKR) - The Franklin Commonwealth's Attorney has decided not to press any charges, after reviewing an investigation into an alleged sexual assault at Franklin High School.

During the investigation, a 15-year-old female student said she had been sexually assaulted by several male students in a bathroom on school property.

According to the Franklin Police Department, a teacher notified the principal of the school about the alleged incident on October 11th, and the principal immediately called police.

A spokesperson for Franklin City Schools, Kelvin Edwards, told News 3 the teacher was made aware of a possible sexual assault incident after a student came forward.

Officials say the incident was alleged to have happened during school hours, when all students were supposed to be in class.

Edwards says only the parents of the students involved in the alleged sexual assault were notified about the incident.

The five male students under investigation were temporarily suspended, according to school officials. It is unclear what their current status at the school may be.
