A treasure trove of unbelievable images from the moon was just released

Japan's space program had a craft on the moon as recently as 2009. It was launched in 2007 and was equipped with two high-definition cameras. Meaning, we should be expecting an absolute pile of beauty shots of the moon.

Recently, a treasure trove of approximately 450 images from outer space have finally been released.

The images showcase the moon's vast surface and the beautiful shadows that it casts. Even the Earth can be seen making a cameo in a fair share of the photos. There's even a picture with planet Earth front and center that is akin to an Earth glamour shot.

The photos are incredible in and of themselves. Especially when compared to the understandably grainer shots from the Apollo Mission lunar landings of more than 30 years ago.

The horizon of the moon in particular is striking due to its short appearance. It makes the satellite seem like a park bench in space, one with an amazing view.
