Scores of U.S.-inspired clown-related incidents have taken place over the weekend across the UK, with people people dressed as clowns armed with knives and jumping out of bushes, frightening children and chasing pedestrians.

In Kent alone, police received reports of 59 incidents in three days.

Commander Julian Bennett, who has assessed the "Killer Clown" incidents in London, said in a press release that three of the incidents are considered criminal offences and have left people feeling scared, anxious and intimidated.

He urged those responsible to consider the impact their actions have on others.
