Woman caught in the middle of a crime by Google street view

Shoplifters are often good at evading detection by store workers and security cameras, but there's one potential witness few likely consider – Google Street View.

The Telegraph reports that a man named Peter Darby was messing around with the feature and happened upon a series of images of a woman clutching onto a full bag while fleeing from a Middlesbrough, U.K. grocery store.

Running behind was a concerned citizen who was apparently trying to catch her.

Darby reported his discovery to the local police, and, though the theft happened in June, authorities were able to apprehend the suspect.

According to CNET, it was not the woman's first offense, and she was "given a one-year community order."
